kde-connect not working on my Fedora-20/KDE laptop

I've had no luck at all with this program.
My phone sends one UDP packet to port 1714 on my laptop,
but I see no reaction at all on the laptop,
even though I have the KDE Connect page open
after clicking on the KDE Connect icon in System Settings.

I'm running kde-connect-0.6-0.2.20140305git52901898.fc20.i686
on the laptop.

I notice that the UDP packet mentions "tcpPort",
but I assume this has no significance?

Is there any test I can run to see if kde-connect is correctly installed?
