No, that's a common misconception. Akonadi is a just common data access
library that also caches data for efficiency, the underlying data storage
remains unchaged, i.e. the usual maildir or ical files. If the Akonadi
migration screws up, then your underlying data is safe, it's just your
configuration that gets trashed. In extremis you can then just delete the
Akonadi configuration and cache, start clean and re-import the data.
