Query regarding plasma widget shortcuts

Hello Everybody,

Recently I installed kubuntu-desktop (4.6.1) in ubuntu 10.10, and was
playing with it. Every time I decide to play with KDE4, I keep running
into this problem: Lets say that I have the folder view widget on my
desktop, and I go to settings for this widget and assign a keyboard
shortcut such as 'Alt+w' to it. Now, when I press this shortcut, what
exactly is supposed to happen? I can't see anything happening nor
anything getting selected!!

Can you please explain what should I be expecting on pressing the
shortcuts I assigned to the plasma widgets?
