Don't worry about the soft message freeze, it only applies to developers, i.e. 
they should not longer introduce new strings so translators like yourself and 
your team have a chance to complete your work without having to continually 
update.

Translators are basically allowed to commit their work almost to the last 
minute before release tagging.
(18n experts please correct me if this is wrong)

That shouldn't be a problem, getting commit access to KDE's repository is a 
really simple process [1].
I have no idea if or how individual translators are usually credited, but 
since you and most likely others of your team seem to have already contributed 
to the translations into your language, getting commit access approval should 
take less than a day.
