Well I never could figure out why the menus got out of whack.
Last week I did a fresh install using PCLINUXOS [with KDE version 3.5.10 Release 2.6.26.8.tex3] and my menus are back to normal!
Actually, the fresh install solved a BUNCH of annoying little problems that have been creeping up over the past year or so.
Thank you everyone who tried to brainstorm on this one. I appreciate the help.
Sue

Subject: Green and Red highlights in the menus
Somehow the KDE menus started having green and red highlights.
I don't know how to explain this without sending a screen shot of it. Attached are 4 .jpg files.
If the attachments don't go through, the one thing I can describe is the main menu at the top has (!) in front of each menu and looks like this:
(!)File (!)Sessions (!)New (!)Bookmarks (!)Desktop (!)Windows (!)Help
Then if I hover over one of them (e.g. (!)Bookmarks) the (!)B changes to B, highlighted in green.
(!)File (!)Sessions (!)New Bookmarks (!)Desktop (!)Windows (!)Help
And if I click on Bookmarks, the dropdown menu has similar green highlighting on all the underlined letters.
The highlights are very distracting.
How do I make the KDE menus go back to normal?
I am running ArkLinux but I don't think that is the problem because only the KDE menus are affected. No other applications are affected.
I looked through the KDE Help file including the FAQ pages and can't find anything that talks about this.
I am a novice with KDE, so any help you can give would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Sue
