KDE 4.4 RC1 bad composite performance

I was using the closed Catalyst driver with X.Org 7.4.  I now updated to 
X.Org 7.5 and switched to the open source "radeon" driver.  The speed 
problems are gone now, so it might be that the new KDE doesn't play well 
with X.Org 7.4.  Which version are you using?
