Its not quite the same... I'll try and explain it differently... The way it is
now, all mail is stored under ~/Mail (or elsewhere...) and i have to accounts.
One GMail and one OfficeMail. If i had them as ~/GMail and ~/OfficeMail, i would
do regular backups of just ~/OfficeMail (GMail here saves copies on the server)
Another possible argument is that with IMAP it does provide multiple top level
folders and for consistency sake it should do the same with POP. If this
behavior is not what is wanted the old behavior could also be done with
filters.
So essentially, i would say is good to have multiple top level folders... not
just visually but also on the file system. It really makes backups easy and
makes the distinction clearer.
