Well, I don't know if you're someone I can complain to (well, or rather, 
someone who can do something about my complaint(s), but:

I leave X running continuously--as long as I don't have to reboot, X is 
running, so:

   * there should be something that keeps .xsession-errors to a 
reasonable size instead of letting it grow without bounds

and

   * it shouldn't be stored in the same directory/partition (i.e., ~) 
with my "real" data

So why should it grow without bounds in the directory that nominally 
stores my "real" data (i.e., text files, spreadsheets, photos, music 
files, whatever)?

(If you (or someone) satisfactorily answers that, I'll go on to ask the 
same questions about other non-"real user data" that gets stored in ~ 
(like configurations and such).)
