Configuration is in many aspects easier than with KDE 3, but still not 
the same.  KDE 4 is not just an upgrade but rather a complete 
replacement.  I suggest you grab the latest Kubuntu (not to use it, but 
to only check out a recent KDE 4) and play around a bit.
