6 year old Macs are able to provide such advanced effects as the “magic lamp”. 
And I got acceptable performance with Compiz Fusion on my laptop. Wobbly 
windows, for example, worked perfectly. So, yes, it *is* possible to provide 
3D effects on a laptop like mine. Windows Vista is probably just 
inefficiently programmed.
