Where are the logs (Desktop(?) Problem)

The logs :
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
~thierry/.xsession-errors (in your home directory)
In your home dir you do:
rm -d .DCOP* .ICE* .Xauth* .mcop* .dco*
In de following tmp dirs :
rm -rf /var/tmp/*-thierry /tmp/*-thierry
Then reboot.
