control center issue

hi, i have recently installed kde 3.5.5 and yesterday when i tried to
configure some stuff within the control center, in the left side of the
panel all i had in index was network and peripherals, and all the other
items were gone..any ideas as to why this happens or how to fix it?
i had previously configured some other things with CC and it worked fine....
i'm on a 2.6.14 - kanotix 9 kernel, debian system
