Korrupted Kmail -- A Thank YOU and a follow up

Whew...after a long, hard battle (thanks to the suggestions about removing the index files!!) I have those folders back...and the mail isn't disappearing when I click on it.

Now (hopefully an easier follow up question...!!) how can I restore my spam filters, identities, and so on. I am (fingers crossed) thinking perhaps if I cut and paste in some additional files I can get those items to reappear too...?

Many thanks for any help and/or suggestions. Having this mail back is wonderful. Whew...!!

A note, for those who care, I believe the problem was that I did the original kmail file backup via scp to another Linux computer upstairs...then copied that file (via scp again) to an external USB hard drive attached locally. For reasons unbenownst to me but likely relating to the fact that the external usb drive is formatted vfat instead of ext2fs, the kmail folder info got stripped out in the copy process. When I unknowingly copied them (the vfat-written versions), they were corrupt. I got working versions again by copying directly from the original upstairs backup file to a new folder in my /home directory (ext2fs, obviously), copying those to the .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail directory, and everything worked like a charm.
