Question Regarding Sound in KDE

Do you start KMix on KDE startup (maybe saved in session)?

Because I do and it somehow mutes the mixer despite its controllers shwoing 
sensible values.
If I open the mixer window and move either PCM or speaker controller, output 
volumnes are set to the correct values.
