KDE Window Manager Problem

Jess:

Thanks for your assistance.  One problem that I have is not being sure of 
the hierarchical structure of the various config files and what will get 
replaced by a pristine copy if it is deleted.

I removed the following files and started a second session.

	$KDEHOME/share/config/kwinrc
	$KDEHOME/share/config/kwinrulesrc

This cleared the problem of each window that was opened being the same 
size as the previous window opened.

I logged out of that second session and then the first session.  I then 
logged in again.  The problem returned.  Logged in as root and removed the 
following file from my account.

	$KDEHOME/share/config/kwinrulesrc

Logged out of root and logged into my account.  The desktop is now being 
fully displayed and application windows open with their correct geometry.

There is still the problem with restoring a window to its original size 
after being maximized.  I'll try removing $KDEHOME/share/config/kdeglobals 
to fix that problem.
