User Session Lock

I am running SUSE 9.3 Pro /w KDE 3.4.1. When I close the lid of my laptop 
after a period of time my system does a user lock. When I enter my password 
to unlock it takes 4-5 times to take effect.  I also have screensaver 
disabled and no check mark in the password box.  Any ideas how to disable the 
session lock?
