Greetings and thanks for reading this.

I love the "break-off" menu function of older KDE versions (default on Mandrakelinux 8.2, ~ 2002). I can't find a way to enable this in my later Linux distributions. Has this function been abandoned? Maybe it's the window manager or XFree86/Xorg? Sorry to clutter your mail with this, but my information searches have proven futile.  Thanks in advance, and best regards.
