Hi. Are you able to surf the web from Konqueror. If so DNS is ok. DNS is 
necessary to convert the URL's that you enter in Konqueror to IP addresses. 

As far as receiving email in Kmail, this can be done from anywhere. The 
problem is in sending email. You need to make sure that everything is set up 
correctly in Kmail to send email through your ISP's smtp server. 

Let me know if you can access the Internet ok with Konqueror. This will at 
least establish that the DNS servers are accessible. Nigel.
