Konsole doesn't work as non-root

Hello Everyone,

When I start konsole as a non-root user, it loads but the cursor is
frozen and it doesn't accept keyboard input. I believe this might be a
permissions problem. I'm running version 3.4xx of kde and have given
full permissions (chmod 777) to /usr/kde, /dev/console, and /dev/null
(in addition to devices that allow me to use audio).

I'm running gentoo 2005.0 and using udev (which requires me to redo
chmod at the beginning of each new session). Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Isaac
