kmail - no message text visible

Hello list,

after the update to kde 3.3 on a SuSE9.0 System, kmail (1.7)  does not 
show the message text any more. The message pane is there all right, so 
is the message itself, but visible only if one hits 'reply', 'forward' 
and the like.
Any ideas what might be the cause?
