Showing index.html instead of folder contents in KDE 3.1

I have KDE 3.1 (standard with SuSe 9.0) and when I open a folder that
contains a file named index.html , it shows that file instead of the
folder contents! how am I able to make a website if things like this
keep happening? Can anybody help me fix it?
