artsd core dumps, gdb data included

Not getting any replies on this so I'll keep trying...

When KDE 3.0.5a starts on my RedHat 7.3 box, I get a window that says:

Informational - artsmessage
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
can't set requested samplingrate (requested rate 44100, got rate ####)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

I also get a core dump in my root directory (yes, I run as root).
