Not getting any replies on this so I'll keep trying...
When KDE 3.0.5a starts on my RedHat 7.3 box, I get a window that says:
Informational - artsmessage
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
can't set requested samplingrate (requested rate 44100, got rate ####)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
I also get a core dump in my root directory (yes, I run as root).
Here is the gdb backtrace I get from the core dump.
[root at localhost /root]# gdb /usr/bin/artsd core.1196
(no debugging symbols found)...Core was generated by `/usr/bin/artsd
-F 10 -S 4096 -s 60 -m artsmessage -l 3 -f'.
