Impossible to Open Audio Cd's

I had this problem on my laptop last month. I thought the cdrom drive in my 
laptop was bad... after forgetting about it for a while, last week I did

> ls -la /dev/hdc
brw-rw----    1 root     audio     22,   0 Apr 29 20:27 /dev/hdc

and den

> groups
users disk cdrom floppy video

and den D'oh.
