Video stopped working in Kaboodle

I don't use video much so I don't know when this stopped working.

I tried to view a QuickTime video file in Kaboodle and nothing happened. 
  Kaboodle opened with no run time showing (so no file loaded).

I tried it from the command line and I get:

unix_connect: can't connect to server 
(unix:/tmp/mcop-jrt/localhost_localdomain-2a2c-41d4d3df)
Launched ok, pid = 20371

So, I don't really know what to check.
