KDE-Menus are weird?!

Assuming you use KDE 3.2, see 
http://pdx.freedesktop.org/Standards/menu-spec/menu-spec-0.7.html in 
particular look for a applications.menu file in $KDEDIR/etc/xdg/menus 
or /etc/xdg/menus.
