How to use several versions of KDE

Hi all,


I was wondering what is the best way to keep and use several versions of KDE 
on a single machine??

When it was kde2 and kde3 there was some instructions of switching between 
versions by only changing the KDEHOME environment variable. I guess kde as it 
is today have a more env vars that must be set.  


I want to keep the kde3.0 that came with my redhat distribution, but I also 
want to upgrade to the most recent stable release 3.1.4 and also try the 
alpha releases. Is there any easy way to change what version I want to use??
