No more bold fonts on the Desktop?

Hi!

Why can't I set my icon font on the desktop to bold no more? In the dialog 
from the desktop context menu and the control center menu the option to set 
attributes for the desktop font disappeared in 3.1.4.

I use Verdana Sans 10 pt, in the italics used for links the strokes become 
very (too) thin when antialised, so I'ld prefer setting the attribute "bold".
