kinetd

I just installed RH9 and KDE 3.1. When I try to configure desktop sharing I get the following error:
Unable to find kinetd. Have you restarted KDE?
A search of my disk found a file named kinetd in /usr/share/apps/kinetd.
kdenetwork-3.1-5 is installed according to rpm -q
Any help would be greatly appricated.
