Removing the Panel

I think the panel is started because of share/autostart/panel.desktop under
your KDE directory. So if you do something like
mv /opt/kde/share/autostart/panel.desktop /tmp
as root, and then log out and back in, perhaps that will stop the panel from
appearing.
