No fonts in kde 3.1, I can't read anything! And as for Konsole...

I don't think that that is going to do it.  There is something more 
basic wrong here.

What are you using for Qt and did you build it from source.

Probably, Qt is not correctly linked to Xft, FontConfig and/or 
FreeType2, but that is just my best guess.
