user defined key bindings

hey,

Ive just come over to kde 3.1 from using Sawfish and X.

I was wondering if there is a way to create new key bindings.  From what I can find, I only seem to be able to use pre-existing ones.

For example I like to launch apps with alt-key etc etc.. which pretty much just runs a command

eg. alt-x will launch an xterm

Is there something Ive missed ? Or is this something I need to configure manually ?
