Hmm, is KHTML still the component registered for text/html in embedded
mode?

Hmm, this sound like you're out of luck.
I think (specualtion based on your mail) those IO slaves produce their
content in form a HTML document.
When receiving the data, KDE checks which program you want to be started
for text/html and so it ends up with mozilla.
I think it should work when using konqueror and putting the URL into the
location bar if KHTML is set for text/html emedded.
