Well, I always hate offering that kind of solution, because some just think I 
am insulting their intelligence and have cursed me for it.  But as a Tech 
support engineer, and now as a system email admin/Engineer I have found some 
of the most difficult problems are solved by some of the most simple 
solutions.

I wish I could offer more than that, because my remembrance of Mandrake is 
fading.  I ran it just fine, but didn't like it, even though I had no 
problems with the sound.
