Random screensaver won't cycle

I posted this before, but received no replies, so I thought I'd give it
another try.  I realize it's not a big thing, but it would be nice to
get it to function.

I'm using KDE 3.0.1 in Mandrake 8.2, and when I select "Random" in the
screensaver dialog, I get nothing but a black screen, it never cycles
through the screensavers.
If I select a particular screensaver, it works fine.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem?
