session not saved in 3.0.5a

just compiled 3.0.5.a on a debian woody (with xfree 4.2.1). It runs
fine until I try to logoff: shutting down kde lasts about 10s and the
session is not saved to ksmserverrc. Any hints how to debug this?

Is it possible to save the session manually?
