xinerama kde3.1

I'm running kde3.1 on Redhat8 with both kde and qt compiled with xinerama.

I managed to get one desktop running over both screens, but are unable to set 
the Xinerama settings in Control Center-> Window Behavior -> Advanced (They 
four settings are disabled.)

Could anyone please give me a hint as to why the are disabled?
