Klipper doesn't unklip

I am running on Lycoris (built on Caldera's Workstation 3.1.1) using a 
rather old kde (to be upgraded soon).  For some reason, I can copy to 
klipper but using the middle mouse button or clicking on the entry in 
klipper and then trying it or Ctrl-V produces nothing.

I know it's an old system, but it'll be a month before I'm able to 
upgrades (deadlines make it hard to do much else).  Does anyone know 
how I can get the blasted thing to work, again?  (It used to until a 
recent update).
