send special key combinations over remote desktop connection

Hello list,

is there a way to send special key combinations to the host in a remote
desktop connection? I would like to connect to a windows XP host running
vnc and the login screen requires me to input a ctrl-alt-del. vncviewer
allows me to pull up a special menu (with F8) in which I can select to
send exactly this combination to the server. F8 though doesn't seem to do
that with the remote desktop client.
