korn problems

For some reason, korn stubbornly refuses to display its message
numbers in colors, as I have asked it to.  I am running korn 0.2 on
KDE 3.1.0, Mandrake Linux 9.1.  I configured korn to display with a
different color for each of 5 mbox mailboxes.  No dice.  They all
display as gray (or, if you prefer, "grey" :->) on the gray
background.  Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
