Screensaver

I'm running KDE V3.0.3 with Mandrake 9.0.  For some reason, and there is no 
certain length of time, the screensaver quits activating.  If I log out and 
back in again it works correctly at the time limit specified.  Is this 
possibly a bug in this version or could something else be causing this?
