two instances of kde, I want one

I have dual heads setup in X without Xinerama. The first screen is my monitor the second is an overhead projection system. Whenever I start kde from kdm or via startx it automatically creates two instances of kwin, kdesktop, and kicker. Is there anyway to turn this off? I want kde on my monitor but nothing on the 2nd screen with the exception of maybe kwin alone, though a raw X screen with no window manager would work also. Thanks for the help.
