Preserving symlinks

Is there any way to make dragging and dropping of files in Konqueror preserve 
remote symlinks?

When I copy a file:/ symlink, it seems to create the copy as a symlink, but if 
it's an sftp:/ symlink I get a copy of whatever the symlink pointed to. I 
know Konqueror can tell the remote file is a symlink because it displays it 
as one in the icon view. :-)
