how to "expand" taskbar

[T KDE]

Hi,

I'm using  Redhat 8.0 (kde 3.0.3). Somehow there are extra spaces, yet 
taskbar looks very short and cannot use the extra space, as shown here:
    http://haddy.gotdns.org:85/pubview/linux_problems/bad_kde_bar.png

Any idea?
