ok, that wasn't a very useful response :)

If you're using a Trident graphics card, this is a known bug in the driver and 
has nothing to do with KDE. I don't know if this is fixed in a newer version 
of XFree86, but I doubt it. Trident cards are *very* bad anyway, if you want 
my advice get a better card from ebay.
