Hi
Have been reading recent postings re opening M$ Office documents in Linux
I recently installed RH 7.3 which came with  KDE 3.09.0-10
Under Applications I found AbiWord with whivh I can open, edit and save 
M$ Office 2000 documents
This works well for me when opdating past correspondence
