how to hide useless borders of maximized window

(Sorry that message was sent unfinished...)
If there's no way to control this directly in KDE, as a partial workaround I
would like to be able to launch an application specifying exactly its window
size and the coordinates of the top left corner (in pixels). This way I could
resize the window on launch to a bit more than the screen size and position it
so that the borders are just beyond the screen edge and are thus invisible.
Unfortunately kstart has no such options, only for starting an application
maximized. Suggestions anyone? Is it too difficult to add such functionality to
kstart?
