no jpeg

I've just compiled the KDE from CVS and find that I've lost my jpeg support.  
I haven't changed my QT (I'm using QT 3.1beta2), and I've affirmed that my 
QTDIR is set properly.

There are no files in $QTDIR/plugins/imageformats .. but that doesn't seem to 
matter when I'm running an older version of KDE (3.1beta2).. jpegs show fine.

So.. have I compiled kdelibs incorrectly?  Did I need to include a flag to use 
the system's jpeg libraries?
