Konqueror: sync Navigation Panel w/folder view

When using Konqueror as a file browser, the user can click on items in 
the Navigation Panel (the tree listing on the left side) and the 
folder list on the right side will react accordingly. 

Can this be done in reverse? 

i.e., open a konqueror file browser from the command line, 
"konqueror somedir". The right side shows the directory listing for 
'somedir' but the Navigation Panel on the left shows the directory 
tree for your Home directory rather than 'somedir'. Click around the 
directories on the right, the Panel remains unchanged. How do you 
synchronize them so whatever's being browsed on the right is 
reflected in the Panel?
