kate bug + ?patch?

there's a nasty bug in kate that makes the cursor disappear while moving it 
around with the error keys, and it turns out that it's been fixed and the 
patch is here:

but how do i apply it?  or do i have to wait for the next release of kde?  and 
what is this "cvs"?  i see it all over the place, but have no idea how to use 
it.
