I made a failed attempt at installing KDE 3.05 and bombed out. I fixed
rc.gui, startkde and ld.so.conf, ran ldconfig and rebooted to get
things back to normal. In the process something else got messed up.
When I "logout" of the desktop, instead of returning me to the login
screen, it runs shutdown and turns the entire system off.
Can anyone tell me what files are called, in what order, and what
signals and parameters are passed to logout and return to the login
screen? I asked this several days ago and the message was never posted
to the list.

Now I understand so much, I'm clueless.
